Boekbinding

Marc Louwers has been practicing bookbinding since 2018. He discovered this craft through the long-term training program at the book workshop of the Royal Museum of Mariemont (instructors Véronique Van Mol and Elise Van Rechem).

He still regularly attends workshops organized by the Mariemont book workshop and by ARA Belgica, the Association of Art Bookbinders, of which he is a member.

He also completed bookbinding training at the Arts and Crafts School in Brussels (Jeanne Toussaint Institute) and graduated as a "Bookbinder and Gilder" in 2025. He is also enrolled in the bookbinding workshop at the Jean-Jacques Gaillard Academy of Fine Arts in Saint-Gilles (instructors Gina Pimparel, Elise Van Rechem, and Hugo Liesen).

Marc Louwers creates contemporary bindings, which he regularly exhibits. When the exhibition setting allows, he favours bindings of texts that he writes himself.
