After studying engineering at the Free University of Brussels (AIrBr ICC 1979), Marc Louwers worked as an acoustical consultant for some of Europe's most renowned acoustics groups between 1980 and 2018.

He has hiked extensively around the world: the Annapurna Circuit (Nepal), the Milford Track (New Zealand), the ascent of Popocatépetl (Mexico), Pico do Fogo (Cape Verde), the Colca Canyon (Peru), and, more recently, the Stevenson Trail (France).

He also plays bridge regularly and won the French Bridge Championships in 1995 (Promotion par 4). He is a certified bridge instructor with the LBF (Ligue de Bridge Francophone) of Belgium.

Since his retirement in 2018, Marc Louwers has devoted himself to writing and bookbinding.
