
Acoustics
Marc Louwers discovered acoustics during his final-year engineering project. He then spent his entire career as an acoustical consultant in some of Europe's most renowned acoustics groups (Peutz & Associates in the Netherlands and DNV Ingemansson in Sweden). He held management positions at Commins-Ingemansson from 1991 to 1993.
He is the co-founder of IMPEDANCE, an acoustical engineering firm, where he served as CEO from 1993 to 2007.
Education
• 1979: Civil Engineering Degree, Université Libre de Bruxelles (AirBr ICC).
• 1981: Advanced Acoustic Engineering Course from NAG and ABAV (Antwerp).
· 1989: DESS CAAE (Certificate of Aptitude for Business Administration) delivered by the ESA-IAE in Grenoble.

He taught acoustics for two years at the University of Evry as part of the Master's program in Façade Engineering.
Marc Louwers has been a member of several French and international acoustics associations. He is also a founding member and Honorary President of the French Acoustic Engineering Group (GIAC) and chaired the Technical Committee of the National Noise Council from 2004 to 2007. He retired from his acoustic consulting business in 2018.
Since then, Marc Louwers has written a history of sound in 100 key dates, initially self-published in a limited edition of 50 numbered copies in 2023, and subsequently published by Éditions Deville in 2024. He also wrote a summary of his professional activities in his "Postscriptum" in 2025.
